To be pessimist or to be optimist?

I really want to use the song by Frank Black, but I also know I cant be naive and think that the publisher will get back to me in the short amount of time I have left. Everything is already edited to the song and It just fits so well with the characters and the "look" of the opening. I am going to be so sad because I just have a strong feeling they will not get back to me. On the bright side, the backup song is still pretty good and all I would have to do is change the track and fix the timing of some of the shots and then the opening will fit perfectly with the backup song.  So fingers crossed the publisher will get back to me, but also all is well if they do not.

Music

Ever since the beginning of the idea "A Girl Named Gus" I knew I wanted music in the background. I just needed to wait for the right song. A couple weeks ago by a pure miracle I heard a song "Headache" by Frank Black who is the lead singer from The Pixies. This song literally, LITERALLY summarized my two characters perfectly. I managed to get in contact with the record label in order to seek permission to use the song. The woman who helped me was extremely nice, and she explained to me about online licensing fees, and granted me permission to use the song as long as I also got permission from the publisher as well. That granted to be much more difficult than I had anticipated, I found a license request form on their website but then it would not let me submit it :/, then with a bit more research I found someone who I could contact from the publisher and went ahead and sent them an email. They. did. not. respond. ://. So I emailed them another 3 times as a "follow up" but the universe knows I was just spamming them. Im just waiting for them to respond at this point, but I have a backup song thats not copyrighted at all as a backup.

WOO

I Have finished editing!!!! It looks pretty good, I think that after almost vomiting every time I viewed what I thought was the final product, I have finally made something that I am content with. I think that the voice over explains just enough for viewers to understand whats going on and want to keep watching as well. I also added a clip filter to the entire opening which in my opinion gives it that artistic style kind of look I was going for. A couple of things I noticed were that I didn't include the complementary colors as I had planned, but the filter I found helps establish that these two characters are completely opposite. The filter makes "Wills" room blue, and "Gus's" character pop with the color red which works just as well as if I had used complementary colors. Overall Im just really happy with the final product.

nahh

I deleted the script for the voice over. At first the script was lovable but then.. no, just no. I deleted it so there is no going back now. Im just frustrated because while filming, and while editing, everything was just fitting together perfectly, and I find one single thing wrong or that bothers me, it just goes in the trash. And yes maybe this is a good quality to have because there can always be room for improvement, but I JUST GET SO MAD BECAUSE I cant be happy with the final product, im always trying to change something and its just really frustrating working with my brain sometimes. On the bright side though I know a burst of inspiration is coming and I really hope I can make something I am happy with.

Final Product !!!!
